Groq, a US startup that makes AI chips and cloud systems, is reportedly seeking US$650 million from existing investors to expand its inference cloud for developers and enterprises.

Disruptive and Infinitium would backstop the round if other existing investors do not take their full allocations.

The fundraising follows a reported December deal with Nvidia and leadership changes that left interim CEO Adam Winter and CFO Matt Eng running the company.

Groq previously announced US$750 million in financing at a US$6.9 billion post-money valuation in September 2025, led by Disruptive, with Infinitium among the participating existing investors.

Groq says its inference business is built on custom LPU chips and GroqCloud, an OpenAI-compatible service that supports multiple models and, as of September 2025, served more than 2 million developers and Fortune 500 companies.

Inference is the computing process that happens after an AI prompt. Analysts expect it to take a larger share of AI computing demand. Deloitte forecasts such workloads will account for roughly two-thirds of AI compute in 2026, up from half in 2025.
