AI chip startup Groq secures $1.5b from Saudi Arabia
Groq, a semiconductor startup, has secured a US$1.5 billion investment from Saudi Arabia to expand the distribution of its AI chips in the country.
The agreement was announced at Saudi Arabia’s LEAP 2025 tech event and follows Groq’s partnership with Aramco Digital, which launched an AI hub in December.
Groq develops AI inference chips that enhance pre-trained models but has not disclosed the timeline or location for the investment.
In August 2024, Groq raised US$640 million in a funding round led by Cisco Investments, Samsung Catalyst Fund, and BlackRock Private Equity Partners, reaching a US$2.8 billion valuation.
