AI to add about $607b to India’s economy by 2035: PwC
India’s economy could see a contribution of around US$607 billion from AI by 2035, according to a PwC report.
The report estimates that AI may add up to 15% to global GDP by that year, driven by productivity gains in sectors such as manufacturing, healthcare, agriculture, energy, and education.
In agriculture, the sector’s gross value addition is projected to increase from US$637 billion in FY25 to US$2,359 billion in FY47, with digital technologies like AI seen as key to improving productivity.
The report highlights ongoing challenges in agriculture, including landholding sizes and yield gaps.
In education, it notes that only 8.25% of graduates are employed in roles matching their qualifications, emphasizing the need for skill development and increased investment in technology.
The energy and healthcare sectors are also identified as critical for supporting growth and inclusion, with AI expected to aid in resource management and expanding access to advanced medical care.
Manufacturing growth supported by digital tech is seen as vital for India’s integration into global supply chains and job creation
