Adobe, Antom partner to expand Asia payment options

Adobe has partnered with Antom, a merchant payments and digitization solutions provider, to improve payment accessibility for customers in Asia.

The collaboration will integrate Antom’s localized payment options into Adobe’s platform, allowing users to choose their preferred payment methods during checkout.

This initiative aims to simplify transactions and enhance the user experience in the region.

In the initial phase, eight alternative payment methods will be introduced in key Asian markets.

These include AlipayHK in Hong Kong, Dana in Indonesia, GCash in the Philippines, Kakao Pay in South Korea, Momo in Vietnam, PayPay in Japan, Touch ‘n Go in Malaysia, and True Money in Thailand.

🧠 Food for thought

1️⃣ Adobe’s continuous strategic evolution reflects broader SaaS market maturation

Adobe’s partnership with Antom to integrate local payment methods across Asia represents the latest phase in the company’s decades-long evolution from desktop software publisher to global SaaS platform.

This move follows a pattern of strategic pivots that have defined Adobe’s growth, from their transformative shift to Creative Cloud subscriptions in 2013 that eventually generated 86% of their revenue, to their $1.68 billion acquisition of Magento in 2018 that expanded their e-commerce capabilities 1.

The payment localization strategy specifically addresses a key challenge in SaaS globalization: reducing friction in the purchasing process for international customers through region-specific payment options.

This approach builds on Adobe’s earlier subscription pricing model innovation, which lowered entry costs (starting at $9.99 for individual products) and made their creative tools accessible to more users while generating predictable recurring revenue 2.

By prioritizing payment localization in high-growth Asian markets, Adobe demonstrates how mature SaaS companies must move beyond product innovation to optimize the entire customer experience, including how customers pay.

2️⃣ The Asia-Pacific payment landscape requires region-specific strategies

Adobe’s rollout of eight distinct local payment options across Asian markets highlights the fragmented nature of the region’s payment ecosystem and the necessity for localized approaches.

The Asia-Pacific payments market is projected to grow from $15.79 trillion in 2025 to $29.50 trillion by 2030 at a CAGR of 13.32% 3, making it imperative for global companies to develop strategic partnerships that navigate this complex landscape.
