Accel, Stellaris lead $6m round for accounting startup Atlas
Singapore-headquartered accounting tech startup Atlas has raised US$6 million in a round co-led by Accel and Stellaris Venture Partners to expand its AI platform and grow in North America.
Founded in 2025 by Arpit Maheshwari and Jagmal Singh, Atlas builds an AI-led platform for independent accounting firms. It said the money will go to product development, partner expansion, and go-to-market efforts.
The company said it already has early customers in the US and plans to expand its partner network across North America as firms face hiring and compliance pressures.

🧠 Food for thought
Implications, context, and why it matters.
AI in accounting is a specialized and fragmented field
- Atlas calls itself an “AI-led platform” for independent accounting firms, yet accounting work varies widely across firms and clients.
- More focused AI products keep popping up, each built for one step in finance workflows 1.
- Some tools handle the month-end close for corporate finance teams 2, while others speed up accounts receivable and collections by moving contracts toward cash 3.
- Other agents stick to narrower lanes, such as billing automation or robotic process automation (RPA) that pulls invoice data into legacy Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) systems 2.
- This landscape leaves new platforms with one clear test, they need to solve a specific pain point well enough to earn adoption.
Modular tools are shifting control from IT to finance
- Funding for platforms like Atlas tracks a move toward a modular accounting software stack 1.
- Many firms skip a single all-in-one suite, then connect purpose-built apps to a core general ledger like QuickBooks Online 1 or to ERP environments such as Microsoft Dynamics 4.
- No-code automation platforms let finance professionals link apps and automate workflows without engineering support, which cuts reliance on IT departments 5.
- Some products also let teams build real-time reports in Excel using live ERP data, a job that once needed heavy IT involvement 4.
