Oak, an Israeli identity security startup, launched publicly on July 15 with a generally available product and enterprise deployments.

The company also disclosed US$60 million in seed funding raised late last year from Accel, CRV, Greylock Partners, AlphaDrive Ventures, Hetz Ventures, and angel investors.

The company said its software maps access to actual app usage and removes unneeded permissions in real time for employees, machines, and AI agents.

Oak said the product is a unified identity control plane, positioning it as a replacement for legacy tools rather than a full identity and access management (IAM) suite.

Co-founder Shai Morag previously built Ermetic, which focused on cloud entitlements and identity risk before Tenable acquired it for US$265 million in 2023.

Oak is entering a market where enterprise machine identities may outnumber human identities 109:1, with vendors including Oasis Security, Astrix Security, Aembit, and Token Security targeting non-human identities and AI agents.
