Accel backs $11m round of Indian edtech unicorn Vedantu

Vedantu, a Bengaluru-based edtech startup, has raised US$11 million from existing investors, including Accel, ABC World Asia, and Omidyar Network.

The company will use the funds to expand into new educational categories and invest in technology and AI.

It is also in talks with new investors for additional funding, which could include a secondary sale for early investor exits.

Founded in 2011, Vedantu focuses on K12 online education and became a unicorn in 2021.

The company turned profitable in Q1 2025, with operating revenue rising 21% to 185 crore rupee (US$20.9 million) in FY24, while losses dropped 58% to 157 crore rupee (US$17.7 million).

Vedantu is also considering a potential public listing in 2027.
