Abu Dhabi’s BlueFive Capital to raise $1b private equity fund

BlueFive Capital plans to close a US$1 billion private equity fund focused on Asia by Q4 2025, according to CEO Hazem Ben-Gacem.

The Abu Dhabi-based firm is raising capital from Middle Eastern family offices targeting Asian opportunities.

BlueFive aims to invest in Indonesian aviation and mining, and in Chinese transport infrastructure such as ports and airports.

Ben-Gacem said there is interest from Chinese institutional investors, but did not disclose names.

He also mentioned the potential for public-private partnerships in China to acquire concession agreements for infrastructure assets.

BlueFive Capital was launched in November 2024 and manages over US$6 billion in assets, with offices in Bahrain, London, Abu Dhabi, and Beijing.

In July, the firm announced raising US$2 billion for a Gulf-focused private equity fund.
