A16z seeks South Korean chip, robotics partnerships
US venture firm Andreessen Horowitz said on October 12 that partner Raghu Raghuram will visit South Korea with its infrastructure investment team.
The visit follows the launch last month of the firm’s US$1.1 billion Machine Age Fund for AI hardware and infrastructure technology.
Raghuram oversees investments across A16z’s AI infrastructure stack, spanning software and hardware. In South Korea, he plans to meet executives and officials at local AI hardware and infrastructure companies to discuss technology development, commercialization, and possible partnerships with a16z portfolio companies.
The trip is part of a broader effort in South Korea. In December 2025, A16z crypto said it planned to open a Seoul office and hire SungMo Park as its Asia-Pacific go-to-market head.
Semiconductors and robotics are expected to be areas for cooperation. South Korea’s strengths in chips, memory, and advanced manufacturing have made it important for AI infrastructure. The country has become a memory backbone for the global AI infrastructure boom.
