A16z leads $33m round for AI compute startup Ornn

Ornn, a US-based compute marketplace founded in 2025 by Massachusetts Institute of Technology graduates, has raised US$33 million in a funding round led by a16z crypto.

The fund will help build tools for buying and selling computing capacity.

Galaxy Ventures, Nordstar, SV Angel, and existing investors Vine Ventures, Crucible Capital, Link Ventures, and Box Group also joined the round.

Beyond its index, Ornn said it offers market data, capacity finance, compute access, and exchange infrastructure for transferring compute risk.

The startup’s pricing products are based on traded transactions rather than posted offers, targeting a GPU market where prices are often negotiated privately and can be hard to compare.

Intercontinental Exchange Inc., the US-based owner of the New York Stock Exchange, said it plans to launch futures tied to Ornn’s Compute Price Index.
