A16z leads $250m series E for US AI proptech startup

EliseAI has raised US$250 million in a series E round led by Andreessen Horowitz, valuing the company at over US$2.2 billion.

Bessemer Venture Partners, Sapphire Ventures, and other existing investors also joined the round.

EliseAI develops AI tools to automate customer service and operations, focusing on the housing and healthcare sectors.

The company reported annual recurring revenue above US$100 million earlier in 2025.

EliseAI said it plans to use the new capital to expand its products and hire across offices in New York, San Francisco, Boston, and Chicago.

Founded in 2017, EliseAI initially targeted the housing industry and has since expanded into healthcare, with most revenue still coming from real estate.

🧠 Food for thought

1️⃣ Vertical AI companies command premium valuations due to measurable efficiency gains

EliseAI’s doubling valuation to $2.2 billion reflects broader investor confidence in specialized AI solutions that deliver quantifiable results within specific industries.

Companies utilizing vertical AI report significant efficiency improvements, including 60% faster contract reviews in legal sectors and 30-40% lower loan delinquency rates in finance1.

This contrasts sharply with general-purpose AI tools that often struggle to integrate seamlessly into existing workflows.

Vertical AI companies captured over $1 billion in combined funding in 2025, with healthcare particularly well-represented among companies focused on enhancing patient care through specialized AI technologies2.

The premium reflects that these solutions require deep industry expertise and custom integrations, creating higher barriers to entry and stronger competitive moats than horizontal AI platforms.

2️⃣ Healthcare administrative waste creates massive automation opportunity

EliseAI’s expansion into healthcare targets one of the largest inefficiency problems in the U.S. economy, where administrative spending constitutes 15% to 30% of total healthcare costs.
