A16z leads $17m seed round for US AI design startup Dream

Dream, a startup based in the US that builds AI software for architecture and engineering, has publicly launched with a US$17 million seed round led by Andreessen Horowitz.

The company is targeting building design in the US.

Founded by former Palantir colleagues Andy Elder and Arjun Mathur, Dream said its model was trained on building data covering more than 100 million square feet from permit archives in the US.

Elder and Mathur said customers use the product to develop building designs and estimate project costs.

Dream said 10 projects in Texas and California are using its software.

The company is entering a market where construction projects often face delays and cost overruns.

It will compete with startups including Motif, Snaptrude, and Arcol, as well as tools that generate blueprints.
