A16z joins $24m series A for AI defense firm Rune
Rune Technologies, a US-based startup specializing in AI-driven military logistics software, has raised US$24 million in a series A funding round.
The round was led by Human Capital, with participation from investors including Pax VC, Washington Harbour Partners, a16z, Point72 Ventures, XYZ Venture Capital, and Forward Deployed VC.
The funding will facilitate the expansion of Rune’s logistics platform, TyrOS, across additional branches of the US military.
Co-founders David Tuttle, a former US Army field artillery officer, and Peter Goldsborough, an ex-Meta software engineer, seek to improve military logistics systems.
They note that these systems are often dependent on manual processes.
The startup plans to integrate generative AI into TyrOS to enhance real-time data processing and decision-making support in battlefield scenarios.
