500 Global says it is not winding down in SEA
US-based venture capital firm 500 Global said it is not winding down its Southeast Asia presence or its existing dedicated regional funds.
The clarification came from Khailee Ng in a social media post on September 3, after questions about the firm’s regional strategy.
Ng said he and Vishal Harnal have led 500 Global’s Southeast Asia practice for more than a decade and still lead their teams.
He said the firm is managing the funds through their full life cycle, pursuing exits, and supporting portfolio companies as they expand into the US and other markets.
The statement follows a report that 500 Global had reportedly stopped raising dedicated Southeast Asia funds.
In September 2023, the firm closed US$143 million across early-stage and growth investment vehicles focused on Southeast Asia.
Ng added that Southeast Asia remains an important market for 500 Global as the firm explores new investment mandates and backs initiatives around AI and globalisation.
