TikTok plans to block links to external ecommerce sites, such as Amazon, to push users toward its own platform. Users in the US will only be able to make purchases through the app. US-based consumers’ spending on TikTok Shop is a fraction of the US$50 to US$60 million daily gross merchandise value seen in Southeast Asia.
