South Korea has asked the US for clarity on export controls in the semiconductor sector and regulations on chip-related subsidies.

This request comes in light of uncertainties regarding the pending expiry of a one-year waiver for Samsung and SK Hynix to import US chip-making equipment to China without licensing requirements.
