In his first public address in months, SoftBank founder Masayoshi Son urged Japan to seize the opportunity of AI, cautioning against a repeat of the past three decades, in which the country missed the internet boom.

Not only did he criticize companies that ban or consider banning the application of AI, he also promoted SoftBank’s collaboration with Microsoft to market OpenAI’s services in Japan.
