Autonomous driving firm Plus has divided its Chinese and US operations in response to escalating tensions between the two markets and intensifying regulatory scrutiny from Beijing.

Its Chinese business will now be managed by a separate company, Zhijia Technology, which will focus on developing a fleet of self-driving trucks.
