Japan’s government is granting Micron Technology up to US$1.3 billion in subsidies to upgrade its Hiroshima factory with advanced chip manufacturing equipment.

The funding, which covers around 40% of Micron’s investment plans, is part of the country’s strategy to boost domestic chip production, vital for AI, data centers, and self-driving tech.
