Bukalapak President Teddy Oetomo discussed what it takes to run a public company at the Tech in Asia Conference.

He started his career as an academic and worked eight years in investment banking before joining Bukalapak in 2018.

Bukalapak chose to specialize in certain categories to increase business, and it doesn’t view GMV as the metric that matters most for the company.

Oetomo also emphasised the importance of not obsessing over day-to-day share prices.
