Genesia Ventures has backed Umami United’s pre-series A round as the latter further develops its plant-based eggs made from konjac flour and bittern salt. The Japanese foodtech firm also aims to tap into the US and Europe. Following the bird flu outbreak, Umami wants to address issues around cost, supply, veganism, and allergies. It also sells raw materials with minimal processing to businesses.
