In 50 Words: Indian startup lays off 90% of customer support staff in favor of AI chatbot
Dukaan, an ecommerce startup, has replaced 90% of its customer support team with an AI chatbot. CEO Suumit Shah said the change, prompted by profitability concerns, reduced customer support costs by 85% and decreased resolution time from over two hours to just three minutes.
Shah announced on Twitter that the firm is hiring for “multiple roles.” The company, which helps merchants set up online stores, last raised US$11 million in its 2021 series A funding round.
