A record number of merchants participated in 6.18, China’s mid-year shopping festival, through Alibaba’s online marketplaces Taobao and Tmall. Daily average short-video viewers on Taobao increased by 113% year on year while livestreaming went up by 139%. The gross merchandise value of over 2.56 million SMEs exceeded last year’s festival.
