China has relaxed regulations for AI services like ChatGPT, omitting specific restrictions from April’s draft guidelines. The updated rules will be enforced from August 15 and will be tracked by seven state agencies.

It mandates security reviews and governmental registration by platform providers, promoting development, innovation, and AI industry security simultaneously. Offshore generative AI tools intended for Chinese users must abide by these rules, while China-developed tools for overseas clients are excused.
