Chinese electric vehicle maker BYD led the Southeast Asian EV market in Q2 2023. It had over 26% of the region’s EV sales, surpassing the likes of Tesla.

BYD previously announced plans to invest US$500 million in a factory in Thailand that’s expected to produce 150,000 EVs annually starting next year.
