President Joe Biden signed an executive order restricting new US investment in Chinese tech sectors, such as semiconductors and AI, as a national security precaution. The order aims to curb the contribution of American resources to China’s military modernization.

China condemned the move, claiming it disrupts economic and trade order.  The prohibition mainly applies to future investments, as regulations will be implemented next year, following public input.
