Nearly half of Korean internet cafe gamers are playing League of Legends

If you’re a frequent reader of this site, you already know that League of Legends is the most popular game in Korea, and that this has been the case for nearly two years straight.

But here’s another measure of just how popular League of Legends is in South Korea: the game accounts for more than 39% of all games played in Korean internet cafes at the moment, according to Gametrics.

These stats don’t take into account the behaviors of play-from-home players, of course, but it turns out at least in internet cafes, Korean gamers are pretty focused. The country’s top three PC games at the moment—League, Sudden Attack, and FIFA Online 3—collectively have an internet cafe market share of more than 60%.

And once you go below the top three, no other game even has a 4% share (even Starcraft barely cracks 3%). League of Legends, Sudden Attack, and FIFA Online 3 are truly dominating the Korean scene right now.
