Navitime, a Japanese provider of mobile navigation solutions, has today launched Journey Pro Connect, an app dedicated to navigation in the United Kingdom. Some might recall that the company launched ‘Journey Pro’ just a year ago.
Company president, Dr. Keisuke Onishi explained in a statement that since that release Navitime has collected much valuable feedback, which has allowed them to understand how to serve their users better:
We have been continuously updating the application based on those feedbacks, and now with over 152 thousand downloads, I can say that it has been worth the effort. The new JOURNEY PRO CONNECT brings a whole new challenge, with new social features and a larger transportation scope.
The app lets you personalize by adding your favorite places, and (if I understand correctly) it claims to be able to pull destination information from Facebook events. There’s also an AR function, a staple in many location-based apps these days.
What’s interesting to me is that the service uses a subscription model, something that’s quite common for mobile users in Japan, but not seen as much in other countries. To use the new Journey Pro Connect, users would pay 3.99GBP (over $6) for 30 days or 39.99 GBP (over $60) for a year. For the introductory campaign, it’s priced at 1.99GBP for 30 days.
You can find the Journey Pro Connect in Apple’s App Store or in the Android Market. Screenshots are below.
