Live music marketplace Muso raises $1m to simplify gig booking

Australia-based live music marketplace Muso has secured US$1.02 million in a seed funding round to accelerate the growth of its operations and enhance its core team over the next 12 months.

The investment round was led by early-stage investment group Investible and impact investor Alberts Impact Capital. Music company Unified Music Group and other angel investors also participated in the round.

“We started Muso after realising there was a real disconnect between musicians and venues on a local level,” Jeremiah Siemianow, co-founder and CEO of Muso, shared. “Many venues struggle to find musicians and DJs, while musicians end up wasting time and energy securing gigs and chasing payments […].”

Siemianow said he and his co-founders, Brandon Crimmins and Alan Jin, found that making live music easier to organize would create more opportunities for musicians.

Through its platform, Muso aims to simplify the end-to-end process for venues, personal hirers, and artists – from discovery to rostering, scheduling, booking, and payments – giving artists a consistent and easily accessible source of income from gigs.

The company claims to have created over 1,800 gigs, booked 900 gigs, and played 750 gigs across Sydney, Melbourne, and Brisbane since its launch in 2018.

With 150 venues and 850 artists registered on its platform, Muso plans to become the go-to marketplace for booking undiscovered talent and serve as a springboard for artists launching into professional music careers.
