Mighty No. 9 is the third most-funded Kickstarter video game in history
The Kickstarter funding period for Mighty No.9 has finally ended and the results were amazing. According to the Kickstarter page, Comcept’s new side-scrolling game has been funded for over $4 million, including Paypal donations. This amount has made it the third most-funded Kickstarter video game in history behind Torment: Tides of Numenera and Project Eternity.
The funding period for Mighty No.9 ran from August 31 to October 1 and it has received more than $3.8 million from 67,226 backers on Kickstarter alone. The project had received overwhelming support from the gaming community, especially from Mega Man fans who often dub Mighty No.9 as the successor to Mega Man since they are created by the same person, Keiji Inafune. The initial Kickstarter target of $900,000 was surpassed in just two days. There has also been an outpouring of fan-made artwork even before the game’s release.
In the finale livestream earlier today, Comcept’s Mighty No.9 team thanked all their supporters and talked about their experience working on the game as well as some future plans. According to them, Mighty No. 9 may not be as visually stunning as games like Call of Duty, but will definitely have a lot of feelings because as the team says,”Feelings matter!” As previously announced, the game will be running on the Unreal Engine, which is the same graphics engine used in games like Mass Effect, Bioshock, Infinite, Infinity Blade, and Gears of War.
The winning design for Call as voted by the fans was also announced in the live stream. There were over 82,000 votes that came in and the top 3 designs were as follows:

At the moment, mightyno9.com currently redirects to the Mighty No.9 Kickstarter page, but it will change to the game’s official forums in late October or November. The backers will receive forum access as well as be able to participate in various online events including polls and surveys.
The replay for the livestream finale may be viewed via Comcept USA’s Twitch page. You can also follow Mighty No. 9 on Facebook and Twitter for more updates.
