“White-label” Mobile Social Platform, Mozat, Boasts 18 Million Users Worldwide

mozatMozat, which describes itself as a “white-label” mobile social service platform for operators, has captured some attention in recent months. It is also one of the top 150 companies under Deloitte’s Technology Fast 500 APAC List, with a whopping 400 percent three-year revenue growth.

Mozat works across all major mobile operating systems and is compatible with over 800 mobile phones. Mozat powers the social platform of big name telcos including Vodafone (worldwide), Telkomsel (Indonesia), Globe (Philippines), and STC (Middle East).

So yes, it’s pretty big. I recently learned from Robin Sagacious Ng, Business Development Manager at Mozat, that the platform now has 18 million users worldwide. It’s understandable if you haven’t heard much about Mozat because most of its users are from emerging markets.

Besides mobile social networking, Mozat also produces social games. One of the biggest hits is Ocean Age, which I would call a pirate/fishing game. As a newbie, you catch fish and sell them. And as you get richer, you can buy weapons and attack/steal fishes from your friends. I can see why the game is popular in emerging markets as is doesn’t require smartphone-levels of processor power.

Mozat was founded in 2003 by two NUS PhD students, Dr. Michael Yin and Dr. Jet Tan. Today, the team has about 80 staff with half in Singapore and half in China. It generates revenue from telco subscriptions and in-app social games purchases. Moving forward, Mozat will continue to focus on emerging markets, especially in Africa and the Middle East.

We are always on the move to develop new services and enhancing the current offerings to provide users and subscribers with an excellent user experience. Our R&D team is working non-stop to ensure that we offer the best to users. On the business front, we will be working to bring our platform to various mobile operators in the Asia Pacific and MENA [Middle Eastern and African] regions.

We wish the team luck. You can find out more about company in this PDF, courtesy of Mozat, below.
