SG women-focused supplement brand bags $850k in seed funding

Moom, a Singapore-based healthtech firm, has raised S$1.2 million (around US$850,000) in a seed funding round led by DSG Consumer Partners. It also saw participation from Love Bonito, a Singapore-based retailer of women’s apparel, and Nuguru, a wellness brand incubator started by RedMart’s founding team.

Founded in June last year, Moom offers supplements for women that can be used for hair treatment, skin treatment, stress removal, and sleep aid. It works with health specialists for its products, which also help in forming questionnaires to determine users’ needs.

The company was established by sisters Mili Kale and Maya Kale, who bootstrapped it for over a year before raising external funding. The idea to build Moom came from their own experiences of having experienced hormonal acne and an endocrinological problem, respectively, in the past. The founders realized that many women who may be experiencing similar issues may have a hard time finding the supplements they need.

Moom plans to use the fresh funding to increase its product range, expand its retail presence, hire more employees, and enter new countries.
