MobDis Adopts ORMMA Standard, Releases Infographic to Explain The Jargon

ormmaMobDis, which runs the self-service HTML5 ad builder platform, has adopted the ORMMA standard for rich media ads. It means Open Rich Media Mobile Advertising, and is an API standard that has been adopted by other major organizations such as Google and the Mobile Marketing Association (MMA). And now in Asia, MobDis is proud to say that it is among the first to adopt ORMMA.

The official site, ORMMA.org, explains it best:

ORMMA is an industry-wide initiative for advertisers to have one common set of rules for displaying rich media ads across platforms. Ad designers that have one API to use when creating ads know that their ad will display on all ORMMA-compliant apps and sites.

First introduced in August of last year, ORMMA is pretty new in the industry but is picking up in terms of its adoption rate. With ORMMA in place, it makes mobile ads creation and implementation easier for advertisers.

You only need one ad format to run on different ad networks supporting ORMMA. It helps to solve the fragmentation issue – across hardware, mobile OSes, and coding languages – that the industry is facing right now, especially in Asia. As Rohit Dadwal of MMA said in the statement, “ORMMA is a great initiative that will help drive rich media advertising on mobile.”

MobDis has taken this first step toward ORMMA, but the industry as a whole really needs to embrace it before MobDis can call it a “competitive edge.” MobDis is doing its part, though, as it rolls out the infographic below to brief the world about ORMMA. Have fun exploring:
