Amazon acquires Indian social commerce firm GlowRoad
Global ecommerce giant Amazon has acquired Indian social commerce firm GlowRoad in an all-cash deal, TechCrunch reported, citing a source familiar with the matter.
Amazon has confirmed the acquisition. A spokesperson for the US-based ecommerce giant said that the deal will help bolster GlowRoad’s service with Amazon’s tech, infrastructure, and digital payments capabilities.
Founded in 2017, GlowRoad is a reseller app for homemakers and graduate students that has acquired more than 6 million users. It has raised around US$32 million from prominent investors such as Accel, Vertex Ventures, and Korea Investment Partners.
Recently, the social commerce firm announced plans to expand into Southeast Asia.
