Medinfi will use the funds to expand to 50 Indian cities, up from the 12 it’s currently active in. Also in the pipeline is expansion toward Southeast Asia, including Singapore, where founder and CEO Ravi Shankar Mishra sees a lot of potential for growth.
The startup says its user base has increased at a rate of 600 percent since January. It currently has 50,000 active users. Armed with the new funding, it hopes to boost that number to 500,000. An iOS version of its app is also expected by the end of the year.

The Medinfi app offers location-based information on doctors and hospitals in the user’s vicinity. The team verifies the professionals on the platform itself and then users can rate them and leave comments for others, much like Yelp or TripAdvisor.
The app also helps users keep tabs on their elderly parents, and would like to eventually partner with the likes of Uber and Ola to send a car to pick them up for checkups and tests.
Medinfi has raised over US$500,000 from angel investors, including this round.
