Marvell Technology reports 63% revenue rise to nearly $1.9b in Q1

Marvell Technology reported record first-quarter revenue of US$1.895 billion for fiscal 2026, surpassing guidance by US$20 million and rising 63% year-over-year.

The company posted GAAP net income of US$177.9 million (US$0.20 per diluted share) and non-GAAP net income of $540 million (US$0.62 per diluted share), with US$332.9 million cash flow from operations.

Growth was driven by strong demand for AI infrastructure in data centers, boosted by shipments of custom silicon and electro-optics products.

Marvell will hold a Custom AI Investor Event on June 17, 2025, to share technology updates and business progress, streamed live on its Investor Relations website.

For the second quarter, Marvell expects US$2 billion in revenue, with GAAP gross margins of 50-51%, non-GAAP margins of 59-60%, and diluted net income per share of US$0.21 (GAAP) and US$0.67 (non-GAAP).

🧠 Food for thought

1️⃣ Custom silicon strategy aligns with broader AI semiconductor boom

Marvell’s focus on custom silicon for AI comes amid unprecedented industry growth, with the global semiconductor market projected to reach $697 billion in 2025 and grow at 7-9% annually through 20301.

The AI chip segment alone is expected to be worth over $150 billion, representing a substantial market opportunity that explains Marvell’s strategic emphasis on this area2.

This helps contextualize Marvell’s impressive 63% year-over-year revenue increase, which significantly outpaces the broader semiconductor industry’s projected 15% growth for 20253.

Marvell’s data center segment has been particularly strong, with a 78% year-over-year revenue increase reported in Q4 2025, demonstrating the company’s success in targeting high-growth computing segments4.

The upcoming Custom AI Investor Event signals how central this strategy has become to Marvell’s future, as the company positions itself within what industry analysts identify as the most profitable segment of the semiconductor market.

2️⃣ Market perception lags financial performance in semiconductor sector

Despite Marvell’s record revenue and strong growth trajectory, the company’s stock has dropped over 40% in 2025, highlighting the disconnect between financial performance and market sentiment in the current semiconductor landscape5.

This paradox is particularly evident in Marvell’s Q4 2025 results, where despite reporting a 27% year-over-year revenue increase, the stock fell 19.5% following the announcement because guidance didn’t meet investors’ elevated expectations5.
