Great at Hearthstone? Attend Blizzcon by winning the SEA Community Qualifiers

Southeast Asia (SEA) has heard of the upcoming Hearthstone World Championship, and of how Taiwan, Korea, and China are the only Asian regions getting their own qualifiers. It has felt jealous and forgotten. So what say you to the SEA region’s own showdown for a shot at the $250,000 prize pot at Blizzcon 2014?

Yes! Southeast Asia Community Qualifiers are going to be held for Singapore, Philippines, Thailand, Malaysia, and Indonesia, thanks in no small part to the numerous Legend-level players in the region. The tournament’s main aim is to give Southeast Asian players a shot attending Blizzcon, and the regional champions will be flown in, all-expenses-paid, to the convention.

Considered to be part of the Americas community qualifiers, Southeast Asia’s road to Blizzcon will kick off with a weekly tournament that will award seeds to each participating country. These seeds are the tickets to the grand finals at Blizzcon 2014. Both Singapore and Philippines will get two seeds, while Thailand, Malaysia, and Indonesia will get one seed each.

Since the seeds are allocated to countries rather than individual players, the SEA community qualifier will accept registration only from residents of the countries stated for each tournament. This means that even if you’re a Malaysian living in Singapore, you cannot sign up for the Singapore tournament unless you have a minimum of a work permit or student pass.

Dates for the qualifiers are as follows:

  • Malaysia, August 9, Saturday
  • Philippines, August 16, Saturday
  • Thailand, August 23, Saturday
  • Indonesia, August 24, Sunday
  • Singapore, August 30, Saturday

In the meanwhile, prepare for the fierce fight ahead by catching the upcoming Legends tournament, a competitive event centred exclusively around Southeast Asia’s finest Hearthstone players. It’s happening this August 2, Saturday, at 1:00 P.M. (GMT +8) on Epic Gaming TV’s Twitch channel.
