LG CNS expands AI push into pharma, biotech

LG CNS, the IT services arm of LG Group, is expanding its AI offerings into the pharmaceutical and biotech sectors, including a government-led drug R&D project and an automated quality assessment system.

The company announced participation in the Ministry of Health and Welfare’s AI-driven drug research program, which allocates about 37.1 billion won (US$25.2 million) over four years and three months.

LG CNS will develop an AI platform to support clinical trials and create an integrated management framework using agentic AI to coordinate various models from participating institutions.

The platform will use federated learning to enable hospitals and research centers to train AI models without sharing sensitive data, aiming to protect privacy and speed up development.
