Validus Capital has appointed Vineet Agarwal as the new CEO for its Singapore operations effective August 1.
Agarwal previously served as the president of payments at the firm, where he helped roll out the company’s SME financial services offering in Singapore, including business accounts, corporate cards, and local and cross-border payments. He will replace Jayanta Roy, who is retiring.
Founded in 2015, Validus offers SME loans, business accounts, corporate cards, as well as payments and expense management services.
The new appointment will boost the SME financing firm into its next stage of growth “with an innovative approach fueled by strategic partnerships, embedded finance, alternative data, and AI-driven data analytics,” Validus Group CEO Nikhilesh Goel said in a statement.
Validus Group, the parent company of Validus Capital, said it has recorded an 80% increase in its loan book in 2022 compared to the previous year. The company has provided over US$2.8 billion in loans to small businesses in Singapore, Indonesia, Vietnam, and Thailand since 2015, it said.
