Unity Technologies to Establish Tokyo Subsidiary

We recently reported about that Unity Technologies, the maker of the software authoring tool Unity3D, had agreed to cooperate with gaming giant GREE to distribute ‘Unity for GREE’ at no charge in Japan.

And now today TechCrunch is reporting that the company is going even further to serve Japanese game developers by establishing a subsidiary in Tokyo.

The division will target Japanese developers and focus on ‘product localization, sales, and support.’ Unity CEO David Helgason elaborated:

The establishment of the Unity Technologies Japan office and the addition to our company of such a knowledgeable, passionate team further cement Unity Technologies’ commitment to democratize games development globally.

Unity noted in its statement that it is also hiring staff for its Tokyo office. So for anyone in Tokyo with aspirations of working in a company like this, now is a good time to give it a try!
