Koprol Launches Location-based Marketing Features

Yahoo’s Koprol, an Indonesian location-based social network has launched a series of new features which allows businesses to reach out to more consumers through its service. Businesses can now sign up for its business feature for free.

The new features provide businesses with the freedom to customize branded look-and-feel and also analytical tools for monitoring. One of the features also allows businesses to claim multiple locations. For example, a restaurant chain could claim multiple addresses to ensure Koprol users are in the loop whenever they are near any of these branches.

Koprol also recommended business users to be creative in their approach. Some of the suggestions include using postings as coupons or organizing online challenges to encourage mentions and reviews. Koprol currently leads Indonesia’s location-based service market with 1.5 million user.

“The launch of Koprol for Business fully equips us to help local small and medium businesses succeed in a highly competitive environment,” Pontus Sonnerstedt, Yahoo’s Indonesia country manager, said at the launch of the product at Grand Indonesia mall in Jakarta.

Satya Witoelar, co-founder of Koprol also revealed some future plans. Witoelar said he expected Koprol’s free premium services to expand into an e-commerce site in the future. If this vision were to be a reality, Koprol’s mobile e-commerce would be the first amongst its competitors.
