Intel Extreme Masters back in Singapore this November

You heard that right, the Intel Extreme Masters (IEM) are coming back to Singapore, and I couldn’t be happier. It’s strange that they’ve come back, given a lack of audience at last year’s Singapore stop, but I’m not complaining.

Like last year’s, this year’s Intel Extreme Masters Singapore stop will be held at the SITEX fair at the Singapore Expo, and will run from November 28 to December 1, 2013. It will again feature the games StarCraft II and League of Legends, and we’ve learned of a $25,000 prize pot for StarCraft II.

There are eight qualifying spots for StarCraft II players around the world, but the Southeast Asia StarCraft II IEM qualifier – which yields just one spot in the Intel Extreme Masters Singapore – is already under way, and will conclude on November 9. If you missed out on that, there’s still the open bracket, which allows you to qualify at the event directly. The top sixteen players at IEM Singapore get a share of the prize money, so if you’re good enough, there’s no reason not to try.

Anyone living in Southeast Asia or Oceania can register for the open bracket (which makes up Stage 1 of Intel Extreme Masters Singapore) by sending an email to openbracket(at)esl(dot)eu with the following information by Wednesday, November 13, 2013, by 4pm (GMT +8):

• Full name
• Link to your Battle.NET profile
• List of tournament achievements, if any
• Date of Birth (players are required to be 16 or older)

Last year’s Open Bracket for IEM Singapore 2012 saw players from Thailand, the Philippines, and even Australia trying to fight for a spot in the tournament. We’re lacking in information for IEM Singapore’s League of Legends tournament but will update as we learn more.
