Kirito to appear, all swords blazing, in the upcoming Dengeki Bunko fighting game
If you’ve watched or read Sword Art Online (SAO) and wished to see Kirito in action outside of the anime and manga, you’re in luck. SAO’s dual wielding protagonist is the latest character revealed in the upcoming Sega developed, 2D arcade fighter, Dengeki Bunko Fighting Climax.
The reveal, courtesy of Dengeki Online, shows off Kirito using his trademark swords, Elucidator and Dark Repulser. The screenshots below show Kirito will be a fast, close range fighter just like in the anime and manga. His “Climax Arts”, the game’s special attack mechanic, allows him to use both swords simultaneously. Dengeki Bunko will reveal more game details in the upcoming Japan Amusement Expo happening this weekend.
Dengeki Bunko Figthing Climax is being developed in commemoration of the Dengeki Bunko’s 20th anniversary. The game currently has a total roster of eight playable characters and fourteen non-playable support characters hailing from several light novels under the _ Dengeki Bunko_ Imprint. The list below shows the names of the other playable characters aside from Kirito:
- Asuna – Sword Art Online
- Kirino Kosaka – Oreimo
- Kuroyukihime – Accel World
- Mikoto Misaka – A Certain magical Index
- Shana – Shakugan no Shana
- Shizuo Heiwajima – Durarara!!!
- Tomoka Minato – Ro-Kyu-Bu!
Dengeki Bunko Fighting Climax will release in Japanese arcades this March 2014. Fans of the Dengeki Bunko light novels outside of Japan however, will have to cross their fingers because there’s no word of the game getting an international release yet. We will hopefully have more info on this game following the Japan Amusement Expo this weekend, so be sure to check back next week!
