Kaskus, an Indonesia-based online forum, announced that it will deactivate its podcast service on October 31.

In an email that was seen by Tech in Asia, Kaskus explained that podcasters can still download their audio recordings and performance data before that date. However, the company’s original audio content will only be available via other podcast platforms, such as Spotify, once Kaskus shuts down its service.
Founded in 1999, Kaskus is an online forum with the most members in Indonesia. In 2011, it was backed by GDP Venture, the investment arm of Djarum Group. Its founders stepped down from the company in 2013.
Kaskus launched its podcast service in 2018 to increase the variety of its forum’s content, which was still predominantly text-based. At the same time, the company also launched short video platform Kaskus TV and blogging website Kaskus Creator, which allow users to monetize their own content.
