Mobility firm Chalo buys bike rental startup
Chalo has acquired Vogo, which rents out scooters and bikes. Vogo’s services can help Chalo users who want to use bus stops.
After the acquisition, Vogo will continue operating independently under the leadership of its co-founder, Padmanabhan Balakrishnan, who was promoted to CEO. Anand Ayyadurai, a former top leader at Vogo, will join Chalo’s management team.
In October 2021, Chalo raised US$40 million in a series C funding round. It has raised US$62 million in total funds to date and operates in 37 Indian cities.
Student enrollment firm snaps up coding platform
CollegeDekho has purchase PrepBytes in a cash and equity agreement. The latter will operate independently and support online platform CollegeDekho Learn.
Collectively, CollegeDekho Learn and PrepBytes have more than 155,000 users.
Apart from enrollment and online learning services, CollegeDekho also offers education lending services and helps students study abroad.
Ola hires Liberis Capital CTO for UK operations
Georgina Owens will join Ola’s UK board as an independent non-executive director. The ride-hailing company named Sir Mike Rake and Leon Daniels for the same position last year.
Prior to joining Ola, Owens led IT and data services for media firm DAZN.
