These are China’s 15 most well-funded startups (INFOGRAPHIC)

China’s startups pulled in a record high funding tally of US$36 billion in 2015, according to figures from the Tech in Asia database – and that’s just from deals that were disclosed and publicized. In such a dynamic and mature tech industry, the cash comes easy and the ecosystem evolves quickly.

So who are China’s 15 top-funded startups right now?

Heading up the top 15 list is Uber arch-rival Didi Kuaidi, with a total of US$4.8 billion in funding – excluding a bunch of rumored extra cash. A merger last year brought up to the number two slot a name you’ve probably never heard of before – China Internet Holdings. Behind the hastily assembled corporate facade is two of China’s top daily deals apps, Dianping and Meituan.

Xiaomi was in the top slot when we made the list for 2015, but the gadget maker – which last raised a huge round at the end of 2014 – is pushed down as ever larger investment sums flood into the Chinese tech industry.
