We have a Facebook Baby in Israel, Her Name is Like

This isn't baby Like, just an illustration

“Wow,” was my reaction when I first read the news at AFP. A couple in Israel was apparently inspired by Facebook and named their new born baby “Like.”

“We named her Like because it’s modern and innovative,” said father Lior Adler.

“I checked that the name does not exist elsewhere in the country, that was the main condition for me,” he said.

Facebook has seriously changed the world by a considerable margin but I didn’t expect others to name their babies after a feature in the social network. While it did gain a lot of publicity on the Internet, I’m not sure if this would be a great idea for a kid in a long run.

Baby Like, however, isn’t the first baby whose name was inspired by Facebook. A man in Egypt named his newborn daughter “Facebook” in honor of the role the social network played in bringing about a revolution.

With “Facebook” and “Like” taken, we still have “Share”, “Comment” and maybe “Poke” for upcoming Facebook babies.
