Founded in early 2008, Singapore-based iTwin wants to reinvent the USB drive. The technology is awesome and I think The New York Times would agree with us too. When Akash Nemani from iTwin sent in his pitch, I was immediately sold.
iTwin allows file sharing in the simplest way. Plug in iTwin (it comes with two parts) into two computers to share files seamlessly, securely, and without any cables. It’s that simple. This video explains it best:
iTwin is currently available for Windows. We were told that the Mac version is now on the making. Nemani can’t reveal sale figures but is proud to say that iTwin is used in 40 different countries.
I would say iTwin has already reinvented file sharing through the USB port, the only thing that it lacks is the market share that traditional flash drive is currently enjoying. Of course, other file sharing alternatives like Box.net, GoAruna and DropBox do present a threat. We shall see how the folks at iTwin would navigate their way to emerge as winners.
