Athena Mentor, a blockchain startup that just came out of stealth mode, has launched a mentor-to-earn platform that allows users to earn crypto tokens by contributing as a mentor or participating as a mentee.

The Thailand-based company aims to build a “wisdom-mining” economy by setting up a one-on-one video conference platform that rewards program participants with its Athena tokens.
Participants can schedule 15-minute “coffee chats” on the platform, but premium services like longer meetings require the use of Athena tokens. In line with that, the company said it will lower mentoring fees for token holders. It also plans to partner with other entities to enable the exchange of Athena tokens for other cryptocurrencies and fiat money as well as goods and services.
Athena Mentor is a spin-off startup from Southeast Asia-based Rise Corporate Innovation Powerhouse. Mentors on the platform include Tinder Thailand manager Kanyanat Piticharoen, SCB executive Kaweewut Temphuwapat, and NocNoc chief product officer Nat Wongtosrad.
The blockchain startup aims to hit 100,000 users by the end of this year and a million users by the end of 2023. In addition, users who join the platform will receive three times the usual number of Athena tokens on all their activities from April 27 until May 31. 2022.
“Workers face two major obstacles to establishing a fruitful mentorship experience: access and sustainability. Not only will we help solve the problem of mentor access, but we also ensure sustainability via the use of tokenomics,” said Paramee Intarachumnum, product lead at Athena.
