Alipay+, iQiyi bolster payments partnership

Chinese streaming platform iQiyi has announced a partnership program with Ant Group. The tie-up will see the integration of the global cross-border payment and marketing solutions of Ant Group’s Alipay+ into iQiyi’s international platform.

The partnership, which follows iQiyi’s adoption of Alipay+ solutions last year, would allow the online video company to expand its market outreach efforts with additional payment methods and enhanced user engagement.

The tie-up would also include joint marketing campaigns and would make Alipay+ solutions available to more users across Asia, optimizing these solutions for the region’s growing mobile-native audience.

Ant Group introduced Alipay+ last year in a bid to help businesses – especially SMEs – accept various cross-border payment methods and build more cost-effective digital marketing campaigns, be it through deals and customer engagement efforts.

The latest development comes as iQiyi eyes a stock market debut in Hong Kong, which is expected to bring in US$500 million for the Baidu-backed company. It would be iQiyi’s second listing, following its nearly US$2.4 billion debut in the US in 2018.
